OPTIMUS PRIME

When I was a kid, so long ago now, sigh … my favourite cartoon was the Transformers, so… who better to be my first post than Optimus Prime, the leader of the heroic Autobots.

Optimus was voiced by the legendary Peter Cullen in the original cartoon series and later in the live action movies, Transformers Prime and many of the video games.

As was revealed by the time displaced Aerialbots in the episode “War Dawn” Optimus started out as an Autobot dock worker, his job was to unload and store the energy shipments from the powerplant further up the river.

Orion lived a happy and carefree life here with his girlfriend Ariel and best friend Dion until the day Megatron came to visit pretending to be looking for somewhere to store his wares.

After confirming that energy was stored at the site, Megatron commanded his Decepticons to attack, Orion and Ariel were shot and left for dead by Megatron and Dion was mowed down by his lesser Deceptiocon warriors.

The Aerialbots took the damaged Orion to find someone that may be able to repair him and his friends and came across Alpha Trion.

Alpha initially told them to take him to the next city as he was already inundated with robots needing repairs, however after detecting a strong spirit within Orion offered to attempt to rebuild him entirely as well as Ariel, Orion became the first of the new defenders and was renamed Optimus Prime ( see Birth of Optimus in Video Clips)
